Spurs flop Bent is '19th best-paid player in world'
Friday, February 29, 2008 A finance website has revealed the top 20 paid players in the world – and claims Spurs Darren Bent is 19th on the list, ahead of Tevez, Totti and Ibrahimovic!

A Portuguese finance website revealed the list, although the players earnings do not include any sponsorship or endorsement deals, ruling David Beckham out.

The top earner is Brazilian and Milan ace Kaka, followed by Barcelona's Ronaldinho.

But Chelsea have four players in the top ten and Liverpool two.

Amazingly, Darren Bent comes in 19th in the list despite being a total flop in his first season at White Hart Lane.

sounds a bit dodgy if based purely on salaries - the club is known for the salary cap that has supposedly resulted in us missing out on certain players - for Bent to be on 87K a week appears nuts. Especially when he was supposedly praised by the press for choosing Spurs over Wespam at a lower salary for footballing reasons. They can't even claim that it includes goal bonuses - he ain't had any, nor does it look like he's going to be getting any anytime soon.
