Don't know if you all saw this, but the Prem has decided from next season to follow other European leagues and allow 7 subs to be on the bench for league fixtures. Generalissimo Levy was the person pushing for this change - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11675_3118541,00.html . His quotes in that article are so smug, if he was made of chocolate he'd eat himself.

I'm glad about this change, shd give some of our promising youngsters the chance to get a bit of bench action from next season to aid their development.

my guess is they only pushed for it initially as they had to keep Defoe and Bent on the bench, which left limited cover for defence and midfield under the 5 sub rule... not such an issue now, although good to have wider options on the bench, whether the kids will just get named in the squad vs actual playing time is questionable, but can only be good for the game.
