Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
The 23-year-old, who joined Spurs from French club Lens in June 2006, had made only two first-team appearances this season.

"Benoit had an operation on the knee on Thursday morning and the recovery time post op means he will miss the rest of the season," confirmed Sporting Director Damien Comolli.

"Benoit is still only young but he is very disappointed to be out injured for this length of time."

I was thining last night that the players that Commolli has signed from the French league have been poor or been injured, and we've spent a lot of money on them:

Zokora - 8m
Kaboul - 8m
Dervitte - injured for a year
Assou-Ekotto - injured for a year

F*cking idiot. Where are our Eboues and Toures that the f*cker is supposed to discover?!?

The french players that have done well at Arsenal were signed from other leagues. Henry, Vieria, Petit, etc.

True, but Wenger has signed other players from the French league recently that have done well and would walk into our side (much as I hate to say it): Flamini (Marseile), Diaby (Lens), Adebayor (Monaco), Sagna (Auxerre).

Why are we over-paying for crap from that league? 8m on Kaboul looks like an absolutely criminal over-payment. He may well come good and I think he will, but that is a lot of money to pay for raw potential.
