| | Chelsea have told Berbatov to prove he wants to play for them. Berbatov’s representatives believe they have a verbal agreement on a 3½-year Blues deal which would hoist his salary from £35,000 a week to £90,000. But agents acting for the club are insisting the player should demand a transfer and force the situation. Avram Grant wants a new hitman in place urgently. If Berbatov’s situation becomes protracted, Chelsea will move instead for Bolton’s Nicolas Anelka. He would cost less than half Berbatov’s fee. |

| White with one please!
Can you imagine the amount of things he would have to strop about if he did go there, he sulks enough at the lane where he starts every game, will get european football again next year (Uefa - somehow) and fast becoming the fans favorite! Another couple of seasons and he will be reviered in Klinessman-like status, mentioned in the same breath as Hoddle, Billy Nick, Harmer-the-charmer etc...
He would be a bit part player at a club like Chelski with no real loyalty or sense of history, it would be for no reason other than greed!
Come on Berbs - think about it! |

| Big deal - stays with Spurs on GBP 35k per week and becomes a Spurs legend.
Goes to Chelsea or Man Utd now - can also become a firm favourite, has ability to become first team regular, a salary of GBP 90k per week and chance to win major honours.
Personally I think he will go. Unless a player has grown up in the area and is keen to remain a big fish in small pond ( eg Le Tissier or Steve Bull ) then more often than not they will want to join the bigger club. It benefits no-one to hold a player if they are that unhappy. Performances will begin to drop ( has Berbatov begun showing his old form to play his way into a transfer ), value declines and negative impact on team moral.
In an ideal world Spurs would be in top four spot, mounting a cheeky bid for the title, looking strong in the cups ( still are ) with fans commenting on how we've finally established ourselves as a regular CL side.
Instead we're languishing below mid table, way off the top 6 places, with an awful defence and a first team containing some very average players.

| | Agree with you Jezza. Sell him now for 25-30m. Invest in a completely new defence. At this rate a relegation battle still looms and a bottom six finish at best. And let's not kid ourselves we'll win any of the three cups. We're simply not good enough to match any of the top sides at the business end of these 3 competitions. |

| | Unfortunatley, spending 25-30m on a new defence does not mean it will be a good defence. At the moment we have a proven world class goalscorer. Yes lets sell him. |

| | we don't want to sell him Twigs but he obviously doesn't want to stay. He's going to go anyway so get shot whilst his value is high and the hype is there. |

| | We have a proven 'want away' world class striker who is performing cos he hopes to be sold in January. Watch his form dip if he doesn't get his wish. He kicked that corner flag not out of frustration with the ref but cos he hates playing in a side with so many inferiors along side him. |

That explains 90% of your posts Jezz
Have you not considered that his change in form could actually be realted to the arrival of Ramos and NOT the upcoming transfer window? As has been the case with most of our first team |

| | by far our best player and everyone seems to want to sell him - I'm a fan, not a shareholder in THFC and I wanna see the best players play for our team. |

| | it's a two way thing though. A player also has to want to play for the team. |
