Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Martin Jol has told Sky Sports News he is waiting until the summer before taking on a new coaching role.
Since leaving White Hart Lane in the autumn, Jol has been offered several jobs around Europe, but has declined every opportunity.
He has been tipped to return to Dutch football with AZ Alkmaar at the end of the season and Jol is looking forward to returning to coaching.
"There were a few clubs in problems in Europe, but I made a decision not to do it," Jol told Sky Sports News.
"I would like to start in the summer, in July, then you get to know the team and prepare yourself. That is probably a better situation."
Jol left Spurs after the club's courting of Juande Ramos eventually saw the Spaniard pitch up in North London in late October.
Talented team
Despite the manner of his exit from Spurs, Jol is confident the team are in good hands and predicts a bright future for his old club.
He added: "I was disappointed before that and just after the summer I couldn't get the one or two players I wanted.
"I think it's a very, very talented team. When some people say it's not as good as they think, I think it's rubbish.
"Ledley King is back now and, with Woodgate, they are almost a finished article and they should do well."
The Dutchman also retains great affection for the Tottenham supporters and has fond memories of his three years at the club.
"I think we had some great years. For the last three seasons there was a great atmosphere in the stadium," continued Jol.
"I think they were really happy. Now, of course, they want more. If it won't come off, they will miss me and I will miss them.
"They are not only good supporters, but good people as well, and that is the most important thing." _________________ To dare is to do |
