| THE PEOPLE newspaper are reporting that Tottenahm Hotspur are keen on signing the £3million-rated Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi.
The Italian centre-half is best known for being headbutted by Zinedine Zidane in last year's World Cup final in Germany.
Martin Jol is keen to strengthen his defence due to injuries to Anthony Gardner and Ledley King, who will undergo a routine operation on his knee this week which could see him miss the start of the season.
Materazzi, 33, has previous Premiership experience with Everton. |

| | Well we definetley need to get some cover in the defence department. Last year was a nightmare with Ledders being out for so long and its looking like he's gonna be crocked again for god knows how long this time. Is this Matzeratti fella really what were looking for though? |

| | I've been having this argument on SC. Materazzi played in a World Cup final just a few short months ago, he's obviously fit and obviously good enough. Maldini has just won a CL medal at 38 or 39, if he's looked after himself there is no reason why the likes of Materazzi can't play another two or three years at the top of the game. |

| Metarazzi has a great left foot and good in the air. Obviously has leadership skills but is also a dirty bastard - the ones that you always hate if he plays for your opponent but everyone would love him to be on your side.
I don't see why he should come from the Italian champions to us though _________________ To dare is to do |
