Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill:
"It has been a terrific effort in the last few weeks.
"I think the game was closer than the scoreline suggests but I think we defended very strongly and Gareth Barry is back to his very, very best.

"I was concerned about the game beforehand. That was our game in hand and we have won it."

That's one player I always wished we HAD signed. Came close apparently, but no cigar. Gareth Barry would be a TREMENDOUS asset for our midfield. Imagine having Michael Carrick and Gareth Barry today ... what happened ? ??Unfortunately I'm not sure we (currently) have a significantly better proposition to offer than Villa. Looks like MON is doing a good job up there. ..Prodigy of course, of the legendary, Brian Clough. I loved that guy !

agree with that. Barry is a brilliant player and I wish we had got him when O'Dreary was ruining the Villians. Our ship has sailed on that one. I read Barry was a Spurs supporter too I think.

Barry's a very average player. No better or worse than our current crop of midfielders. Now Pirlo, there's a quality world class midfielder.
