TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR have missed out on signing Borussia Dortmund defender Christoph Metzelder.

Real Madrid president Ramón Calderón has reportedly confirmed that Metzelder has joined the La Liga champions.

Spurs boss Martin Jol was hopeful of landing the 26-year-old on a free transfer, but the lure of the Spanish giants has proven to be too much to compete with.
